Happy Fall! I know I’ve been abusing the concept of /now so far to sneak in travel posts. It should be more concise, seasonal updates like this.

Now, I’m back in Seattle trying to become a teacher. I expect that to involve some tutoring and substitute teaching and maybe odd jobs.

I’m reading The Brothers Karamazov partly because of its influence on Infinite Jest. The first half is great. So far, it’s a sequence of dialogues and parables connected by a loose narrative which makes it a fortuitous successor to the Socratic dialogues but also dangerously easy to glide through. I find myself craving a book club if only to force contemplation. In between, I squeezed in the short and sharp Perfection by Vincenzo Latronico which made me feel pretty smug about being uncool. I’ve done a bad job saving good articles, so I’ll just mention “The Crane Wife” by CJ Hauser and “Letter from the Pulitzer Fiction Jury” by Michael Cunningham.

I’ve been listening to you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love a lot. Favorites are “stupid song” and “what’s wrong with me”. Also SABINA 之淚 by my little airport which I found on some blog I’ve lost track of. Sorry!

My last race was the Founders Half last December, so long ago I’m not even sure that’s true. I may have to do a 5K before a year passes between races. All the moving and traveling has been a good excuse to take it easy in the Summer humidity, but the Fall PNW air is already begging me to train for something.

I’ve been taking another serious crack at juggling 5 balls (don’t laugh), and having fun learning other tricks again (thanks to the Edinburgh Fringe). You’ll hear all about it when I get it. I have a hundred other plans and goals that may not undoubtedly won’t all materialize when I settle back down, but I’m already testing the bounds of concision. See you later.
